Sudden Hearing Loss
Sudden Hearing Loss is an urgent medical condition that requires prompt attention. Often times a patient will state he/she awoke one morning and their hearing “went out.” They describe a static like sound in the affected ear and at times there is a sensation of dizziness. These are most always related to the hearing nerve and can be affiliated with a prior viral infection. As a result, rapid treatment with high dose steroids and antivirals is key to securing the best outcome. Hearing tests are also performed on a weekly basis to track hearing improvement and guide the need for further treatment.
